SA Rope Access Health and Safety Policy

Safety and adherence to the Occupational health and Safety Act [OHSA 85 of 93] are constant and consistent goals of our company. In accordance with this commitment, every precaution is taken to provide a safe workplace and environment. Safety officers and safety representatives have been appointed to manage the implementation of this integral aspect of our company.

These officers and their respective offices make regular inspections and hold regular safety meetings. They also meet with management to plan and implement further improvements to our safety program. Common sense and personal interest in safety are still the greatest guarantees of our safety at our worksites. We take our safety seriously and any willful or habitual violation of safety rules will be considered cause for dismissal and dealt with according to procedures set out in the OHSA 85 of 93. SA Rope Access is highly diligent in the enforcement of its health and safety policy to ensure the health and well being of each member of the team and anyone around the vicinity of our worksites including our clients.

The cooperation of every employee is necessary to make our sites safe places in which to work. Unsafe conditions or hazards are immediately reported to the safety representative, supervisor or to any member of the safety committee. Immediate and accordant controls are put in place and the risk reviewed. Ernest consideration is given to the safety procedure as set out during toolbox discussions with the supervisor, regulations found in our safety file and legislation in the form of the OHSA or any other related Acts, regulations and standards. We also abide by OHSAS 18001 which is an international health and safety management system specification.
It is according to this specification that our health and safety file is compiled and audited to meet international standards of health and safety.

All the employees are consistently encouraged to begin their days at work with safety consciousness.
  • Accident reporting. Any injuries at work—no matter how small—are reported immediately to the supervisor, investigated and proper first aid is accordingly administered to circumvent serious conditions arising from small but poorly treated or untreated injuries.
  • Specific safety rules and guidelines. To ensure employees’ safety, that of their coworkers and people in the vicinity of the workplace , employees are urged to observe and obey the SANS 10333-1 standards SECTION 8 WORKSITE PROCEDURES and Section 9 which specifically deals with rescue procedures
  • Safety checklist. It’s every employee’s responsibility to be on the lookout for possible hazards and for their and others well being in relation to their work and work environment. If one identifies any possible hazardous condition or situation they should immediately report it to the supervisor
  • PPE. The supervisor ensures that employees receive protective clothing and equipment required for a specific job and they use it as instructed and take care of it. Employees are only charged for loss or destruction of these articles when it occurs through negligence.
  • Good housekeeping. The work location should be kept clean and orderly.
  • Our safety policy is subject to continual improvement necessitated by newly arising and identified risks to ensure up to date precautions are in place to combat any eventuating hazard.

In line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and increasing international interest and concern for the welfare of people at work in terms of their health and the risks they are exposed to, SA Rope Access has made a commitment through its Health Policy not only to adhere to legislation and standards but to safe guard the health of their employees, clients and individuals in the vicinity of their work related activities.
