Welcome to SA Rope Access

SA Rope Access was established in Gauteng to meet the growing need for high-rise building maintenance utilizing sophisticated rope access techniques.

The founders and partners have collectively accumulated an impressive 35 years’ experience in the industry, nationwide.

Rope access is a cost-effective way of positioning personnel, tools and materials at elevated locations, the exterior of high-rise buildings for example, that are normally difficult to reach.

This is accomplished by the use of two ropes, one being the main working rope and another installed in parallel as a dedicated back-up rope. This is a safety feature that gives rope access an advantage over other access methods.

Additional benefits of rope access include speed and less interference with day to day client operations. Ropes can be installed quickly and workers can rapidly gain access to and from their work areas, causing relatively limited interference to workers inside the building or any other external operators.

At SA Rope Access, our workers’ safety is of primary concern and we ensure that the necessary training, quality control, site management, testing and inspection of gear are all carried out to dramatically reduce the risk factor of personnel working high above ground- level.

Professionally-operated rope access compares favorably with other means of access and their associated risks and costs.

Rope access is a system consisting of equally important interrelated components that combine to accomplish an unparalleled safety record and maximum productivity.

These are:

  • Competent manpower: trained and certified rope technicians.
  • Equipment that is approved and certified by the responsible standards institutions, for example SABS in South Africa.
  • Strict managerial procedures in place for all phases of operation.
  • At SA Rope Access, we abide by this system for the benefit of our valued clients and employees.

Rope Access as an industry is regulated by the Institute for Working at Heights(IWH) in South Africa and by respective national associations, standards and legislation in other countries.

Rope access offers:

  • Greater flexibility than is possible with moving platforms or scaffolding
  • Access to otherwise impossible-to-reach areas.
  • Less congestion at the foot of buildings, parking areas and access points.
  • Optimized security due to the fact that no fixed access structures are left on site.
  • Reduced set-up time, thus minimizing man hours and costs and reducing downtime in adverse weather.
  • A quieter service with minimal interference.
